mmob pitches at Fintech North Newcastle Conference and SHIFT Fintech Showcase

Throughout July, mmob was selected to pitch at two key events in the UK Fintech calendar.

Our Senior Partnerships Manager Olivia Minnock attended the Fintech North Conference in Newcastle on Wednesday 17 July to take part in the Fintech Showcase, outlining the benefits of mmob in supercharging embedded finance integrations to the Northern Fintech ecosystem.

The event also included contributions from a range of interesting speakers from organisations like Mastercard, Atom Bank, Innovate Finance, Kani and the FCA. They discussed topics like the importance of regional connectivity for the UK’s fintech sector, as well as the importance of security and digital identity for the growth of financial services.

Fintech North has shared a full summary of the event here.

During the showcase, Minnock outlined:

  • Why API integrations often face hurdles and fail to deliver
  • The amount of time and resource needed to import a third party’s product into a new digital channel
  • How mmob helps speed up and scale integrations for a variety of API-based products
  • Examples of where we have successfully delivered this including work with Mastercard and Level Financial Technology.

On Thursday 25 July, Minnock also took part in the SHIFT Fintech Showcase, hosted at Rise, Created by Barclays in London. mmob was chosen to pitch alongside Eliq - an energy data proposition -  and Doshi - a financial education tool - with a panel of judges including Oliver Parsons from Lloyd’s Banking Group, Charlotte Kanagasabapathy from Barclays, Dan Pandeni Idhenga from London Venture Capital Network, Jay Wilson from Albion VC, Nitya Gupta from 13books Capital and Bryan Shaw from Fox Williams.

The showcase aimed to explore the “future of finance” being created by members of the SHIFT Open Finance Community, an invitation only group launched by Woodhurst to support fintechs and companies involved in open finance. It sought to boost understanding of what banks and VCs look for in partners or portfolio companies, and to further develop networking opportunities.

Following the pitch, the judges asked various questions about mmob’s competitive advantage, the core sectors it is currently solving problems in, and the time it has saved clients so far.

If you would like to find out the answers to some of these questions, please get in touch.
