Hi Ed! As mmob’s newest Technical Analyst, Ed talks about our strong team ethos and the future personalisation of fintech.
How did you come to join the mmob?
I graduated with a BEng in Computer Science from the University of York. I then completed an internship for one year in a London-based Saas company which grew from 8 to 30 people in the time I was there. I joined mmob at the start of February 2021 as a Technical Analyst.
What is your favourite thing about working at mmob?
Having recently joined I have found the work to be very interesting! The team have been incredibly welcoming, helping me get to grips with their technology. There’s a highly collaborative ethos in the team, which has led to great productivity in the time I have been working.
What does your job role entail?
My job is a multi-faceted role working on building APIs, our application, and the overall architecture. I am also responsible for writing up technical documentation.
What are you working towards at the moment?
I am currently implementing a newly revised backend Framework to increase the speed of API development and reduce errors in design.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I spend a lot of time educating myself on data science. During the pandemic I’m kept busy with Zoom calls and quizzes with friends. I also enjoy sports, particularly playing tennis, rugby and running.
What do you think the future of fintech looks like?
I think we will soon have ultra-personalised products, which take advantage of machine learning techniques. There will be increased simplicity and ease in setup provided by open banking.
What is the best piece of advice you have received?
Question everything! And remember that all things are difficult before they are easy.
